Zack:
I have encountered a problem where I have made a box with a lid, and a pneumatic cylinder. I gave the box a hinge mate, so that the lid will move up and down, and it does in the assembly. I gave the pneumatic cylinder a concentric mate for the rod, to center of body. It worked fine in its own assembly, the rod went in and out fine. However, when I created a new assembly, and mated the cylinder to the box, I couldn’t get either of them to move. The lid wouldn’t move up or down, and the cylinder rod wouldn’t go in or out. I have not overdefined my mates. I am using Solidworks 2004. Am I missing something. I have tried unmating them several times, and then remating them. Still no good. Have you got any ideas of what else I can try. I couldn’t see any examples of the problems that I have been having.
