How to model car with SolidWorks

I’m experimenting with Surfaces Tools to create BMW E36 Model Car. First thing I did is to Insert Picture to my Top Plane with top view of the car and Front Plane with Side view of the car.

Than I made extra plane to correct height and sketch a curve profile for lower curve of windsheild and create another plane at top with curve on top widsheild. I use swept face tool to create the windsheild.

Ok, you might ask me how to add picture in your sketch so you also can trace the picture? here the steps
1) Click Top Plane and click Sketch,
2) Tools>Sketch Tools>Sketch Picture…

And select your picture and OK. Have fun.. and wish me luck!

hey thanks for the info. my problem is that i have already inserted a picture, but not every format can work with SW, so i changed the format a couple of times and finally i got a bitmap file inserted, but another problem came up, the picture is always on top of my sketch. so how can i fix this mess.

    thanks

hi ahmed, let’s say you have use top and front plane to add your picture.. do not sketch on the same plane as inserted picture plane. Create another plane and sketch on that plane.. Your sketch should be on top right now…

question is how do i proceed drawing a car ex. the Audi R8 WITHOUT inserting a picture initially?
Or is it possible to draw the same car without inserting a picture?
